The Supreme Court in India looked at a case about the big increase in cybercrime and annoying phone calls. This case was brought by a person from Bengaluru who was worried about these problems happening all over the country. The court agreed there was a problem and told the government’s Department of Telecommunications to give their thoughts on this. The person who brought the case is asking the phone companies to use caller ID to stop the bad calls.
The court said it seemed like the government was trying to do something about the problem but it wasn’t enough. The case is saying that the current actions aren’t stopping cybercrime or the constant annoying calls. Basically they want the government to make phone companies do more to protect people. The person who filed the case wants the court to tell phone companies to use technology to help identify and block bad calls.
This is all happening because the systems in place now don’t seem to be keeping people safe from online scams and annoying marketing calls. Even though the court knows some efforts are being made they see this as serious and are stepping in to make sure something gets done. The court is trying to help the public who want action and it seems like they might make new rules to protect people from online harm and irritating calls.
