The Supreme Court in India said no to giving E Abubacker bail this Friday. He used to be the head of the Popular Front of India or PFI which is now banned. The National Investigation Agency or NIA arrested him back in 2022 when they took action against the PFI. He’s facing serious charges under anti-terror laws. He had asked the court for bail because of health problems but they turned him down.
The government believes that the PFI has done terrorist things. That’s why the NIA has been after people connected to PFI since it became illegal. Abubacker tried to get out of jail because he said he was not well. He went to the Supreme Court after a lower court had said no to his bail before.
Two judges from the Supreme Court looked at a medical report about Abubacker. They decided they wouldn’t give him bail at this time. This means he’ll have to stay in jail while his case moves forward in the legal system.
