R. Ashwin a former cricket player spoke at a college graduation near Chennai on Thursday It was a celebration for the students finishing school He asked them what language they’d like him to speak offering English Tamil or Hindi. The students really wanted him to speak Tamil.
During the talk Ashwin pointed out that Hindi isn’t the national language of India but one of the official languages. He mentioned this because of the language choice the students made. He wanted to show he understood how important local languages are and that there is a lot of diversity in India.
He talked about language because he asked the students what they preferred to hear. This made the conversation about language importance very clear during the event It all happened at the school’s graduation ceremony on Thursday showing how important language is to the students.
