Afzal Ansari a member of parliament from the Samajwadi Party has recently spoken out against Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Ansari seems concerned about how the state is being run particularly regarding the upcoming Maha Kumbh. He’s saying India should follow the Constitution not just one person’s ideas or religious symbols. It sounds like he thinks there is too much power being used and a lot of focus on religion in government.
Ansari also pointed out some problems with the Maha Kumbh a big religious gathering. He said it’s getting way too expensive and questioned if all the money being spent is necessary. He also suggests the money might not be used correctly and wants more transparency about how public funds are being spent for religious events. He basically wants the government to be more responsible with money when it comes to big religious events.
The main point of Ansari’s criticism is that he sees a conflict between how the government is working and the Constitution. He thinks the state is making decisions based too much on religious factors instead of constitutional guidelines. He wants the government to make the Constitution its priority and to address important public needs rather than focusing solely on things like the Maha Kumbh and its associated costs.
