On Thursday a group called Akhil Bharatiya Karni Sena protested near Aligarh Muslim University in India. They say a 125 year old Shiva temple at Shamshad Market was taken over and they want it back the group says the temple and a shelter were built back in 1899 by some of their ancestors and the district authorities need to fix it.
The Karni Sena is giving the authorities one week to remove anything they think is not supposed to be there. They are saying if nothing happens in that week they will take things into their own hands and take over the temple themselves. This protest is making things tense in the area especially around the university which is close to where they say the temple is.
Recently some other Hindu activists have also started talking about this temple in Shamshad Market saying it is important historically and should be restored. Now the district leaders have to figure out how to deal with this and try to solve the disagreement about what should happen with the place and the area around it.
