Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said they are implementing the Uniform Civil Code this month making Uttarakhand the first state in India to do this. The law will set same rules for marriage divorce and inheritance for everyone except Scheduled Tribes no matter what religion they follow. All marriages and live-in relationships must be registered under this law. Dhami said the UCC is like the sacred rivers of India important for keeping things stable in society.
Dhami talked about development plans including Ganga Corridor in Haridwar and Rishikesh plus one by Sharda River. More people are coming for tourism and religious trips because of ongoing construction at Kedarnath and a plan for Badrinath Dham. Temples in Kumaon region will be restored plus Purnagiri will be developed. Uttarakhand is being promoted for weddings and handicrafts which are bringing money for local women through loans with no interest.
Dhami also mentioned new laws like anti-conversion and anti-riot plus to stop exam cheating. They want to maintain order stop land grabs and make sure everyone has fair chances. The 28th National Games will start in Uttarakhand on January 28. UCC was approved earlier this year after a panel gave their report now Uttarakhand is getting ready to start it this month.
