According to reports, former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, accompanied by his supporters, arrived at the location and fired multiple rounds. This incident occurred after a series of heated exchanges between the two politicians on social media, leading to Champion’s subsequent arrest by the Uttarakhand Police.

The attack was captured on video, which quickly spread online, showing the assailants arriving in three vehicles before opening fire indiscriminately at the MLA’s office. Bullet marks on the building attest to the intensity of the assault. Moreover, the sound of the gunfire caused widespread panic among local residents, triggering significant unrest in the area. Following the event, MLA Umesh Kumar shared the video, commenting, “After facing a crushing defeat in yesterday’s municipal elections, former BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion, along with armed miscreants, fired several hundred rounds with dozens of weapons at my official residence today.” Interestingly, during his arrest, Champion claimed he was the one being treated unfairly. In response, authorities have begun the process of revoking Champion’s weapons licenses.

The Dehradun Police have taken Champion into custody and are currently interrogating him at the Nehru Colony Police Station. A substantial police presence has been deployed to the location to control the situation and to investigate the underlying cause of the attack.
