Assam Flood Death Toll Rises to 31, Over 2.3 Lakh Remain Affected

The death toll in Assam floods rose to 31 on Tuesday, with 21 more fatalities across several districts. Over 2.3 lakh people remain affected, with 12,200 evacuated to relief camps. Rivers like Brahmaputra, Disang, and Dikhou are above danger levels. Despite receding rainfall, the flood situation is grim, with 14,400 hectares of agricultural land submerged. Relief operations continue, including air drops by the Indian Air Force. Floodwaters damaged infrastructure, disrupting roads and rail services. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority is using drones to assess damage. No significant rainfall is forecast for the next two to three days, offering hope for improvement. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit affected areas on Wednesday.
