Cockroach Janta Party Secures Permission for Delhi Protest
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has received permission to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 6, according to their announcement made on Saturday. The youth-led online movement is demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in major examinations including NEET, CBSE, CUET, and SSC tests.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who recently arrived in Delhi from the United States, described the campaign as a peaceful constitutional movement. The police met him at the airport, and protesters have been asked to come directly to Jantar Mantar rather than the Parliament Street Police Station.
Security was significantly enhanced across Delhi with additional police deployed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, border points, railway stations, and bus terminals. More than 1,000 personnel were positioned in the New Delhi district as preventive measures.
Officials reported that multiple barricades were placed outside the airport, and vehicle checks were intensified on routes leading to central Delhi. Senior officers reviewed arrangements during a high-level meeting, directing field units to remain vigilant with reserve forces on standby.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk expressed support, stating he would undertake a six-week fast if Dipke were arrested. The CJP originated as a satirical response to Chief Justice Surya Kant's remarks calling certain individuals cockroaches and parasites during a court hearing, but has evolved into a large organized online movement.
