Jamshedpur Fuel Crisis: Petrol, Diesel Shortage Causes Chaos

Jamshedpur is facing a severe petrol and diesel shortage, causing major problems for the public. Since Wednesday morning, long lines of vehicles have been seen at petrol pumps. Drivers of bikes, cars, trucks, and other vehicles are struggling to get fuel. The situation has become chaotic at many places, making it hard for pump workers to manage the crowd.

The disruption in fuel supply across the Kolhan region is directly affecting daily life and transport services. Many petrol pumps have shut down because they ran out of fuel. Some pumps have only petrol available, while others have only diesel left. This forces people to travel from one pump to another looking for fuel. Several petrol pump operators have decided to sell fuel in limited quantities only. Bike riders are getting fuel worth up to 200 rupees, and four-wheeled vehicles are getting fuel worth up to 2000 rupees only. This has caused dissatisfaction among drivers who need more fuel for long journeys.

According to Kunal Kumar, Secretary of the Jamshedpur Petrol Pump Association, around 60 petrol pumps across the entire Kolhan region have shut down due to no supply. Out of nearly 300 petrol pumps in Kolhan, 60 are closed. Jamshedpur has 36 petrol pumps, and more than 15 of them have shut down. Pumps of Bharat Petroleum are the most affected. Fuel is not available at pumps operated by Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, and Hindustan Petroleum. The shortage is expected to worsen if supply does not resume soon.

The fuel crisis has also spread to Saraikela and Chaibasa areas. Many pumps there are temporarily closed due to supply disruption. Pump operators say their petrol stocks were exhausted since Monday night, and diesel stocks are also likely to run out soon. This is causing even more difficulties for vehicle drivers. Pump operators hope the situation will improve once fuel supply resumes.
