JMM Meeting: Sir Training, Census Demand Discussed
On Sunday, a meeting and worker training camp was organized under the supervision of the Potka block committee, following instructions from the JMM central committee. The training provided detailed information about the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and the demand to include the Sarna religion code in the census. The meeting was attended by JMM workers and officials from the district, block, and panchayat levels. MLA Sanjeev Sardar was the chief guest at the meeting.
MLA Sanjeev Sardar emphasized that JMM workers at the panchayat and booth level should work with government officials to ensure that voters who are outside their villages for any reason are not removed from the voter list. He stated that the government has appointed BLOs for each village for the census, and JMM will deploy booth-level workers to assist them in helping villagers fill out the census forms correctly. He also mentioned that the census form does not include the Sarna religion code, and Chief Minister Hemant Soren has demanded its inclusion by meeting with the President.
He further explained that the tribal population in the country is approximately 12 crore, and if the Sarna religion code is not included in the census, their existence will be at risk. He assured that JMM will strongly pursue this demand. The meeting was attended by hundreds of JMM workers, including Sunil Mahato, Babloo Choudhary, Hiramani Murmu, Chandrahati Mahato, Sudhir Soren, Bhuvaneshwar Sardar, Baghrai Murmu, Hitesh Bhagat, Jikrul Hoda, Chakradhar Mahato, Birendra Patra, Bhuglu Tudu, Manoranjan Sardar, and Vimal Das.
During the meeting, the newly appointed district committee was welcomed by the Potka block committee. The new district committee members, including Chairman Victor Sardar, Vice Chairman Sagen Purti, Vidhansagar Das, Pranav Mahato, Secretary Ratan Mahato, Organization Secretary Chandrashekhar Tudu, and Joint Secretary Manik Mallik, were honored and congratulated.
