MP High Court Acts on Threats to Judge Over Lynching Verdict, Ensures Security

The Madhya Pradesh High Court took suo motu cognisance of threats and online abuse directed at Additional District and Sessions Judge Tabassum Khan after she convicted seven men in a 2022 lynching case. The court directed the state's police chief and additional chief secretary to ensure her security, following media reports of posts targeting her religious identity and issuing threats. The Supreme Court Bar Association also condemned the intimidation, stating that judicial officers must be protected while discharging their duties.
