NCERT Revives Class 8 Textbook, Judiciary Corruption References Removed

NCERT will reintroduce its revised Class 8 Social Science textbook by late June. The original was withdrawn in February 2026 after the Supreme Court objected to content about judicial corruption. NCERT apologized, calling it an error. A committee of legal experts rewrote the chapter, removing all corruption references. The updated book has been sent for printing. Schools need it as the academic session is ongoing. This revision aligns with NEP 2020, featuring better design and digital access. The court later cleared three academics initially linked to the controversy.
