West Bengal's PDS Verification: Thousands at Risk of Losing Ration Benefits

West Bengal is verifying Public Distribution System beneficiaries based on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Ration cards of those removed as absent, shifted, duplicate, or dead will be deactivated. Around 27.16 lakh voters were deleted during adjudication. Critics, including Asaduddin Owaisi, condemned linking welfare to voter status, calling it harmful to the poorest communities.
