French Political Group Joins BDS Movement, Citing Israeli Apartheid

French Political Group Joins BDS Movement Citing I

La France Insoumise or LFI a big political group in France recently said they are now officially part of the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions or BDS movement. This happened after a political win. LFI said they think Israel has been treating Palestinians unfairly for a long time calling it a system of apartheid and even genocide. They say Palestinians have been colonized and faced human rights problems for decades.

LFI joined the BDS movement because they want France to do more to help Palestinians. They want to use economic political and cultural actions to pressure Israel to change how they treat Palestinians. LFI feels that by joining the BDS movement they can hold the Israeli government responsible for what they see as wrong actions. They want to push France to stand up against Israel’s policies.

This move by LFI is designed to get more people to support the Palestinian cause. It also shows that some French politicians are critical of Israel’s actions. This new alliance is important because it shows LFI’s position and gives the BDS movement a stronger political voice in France. LFI is now pushing for France to take actions that support their ideas about what is happening to Palestinians possibly changing how people talk about the conflict in France.
