Manipur's Muslim community protested in Thoubal against the state government's appointment of non-Muslim members to the Waqf Board. The August 21 demonstration, covering nearly 4 km, criticized the BJP-led administration for including BJP leader A Sharda Devi among the seven new appointees. Under the Waqf Amendment Act, non-Muslims and women can join the board, but protesters argued this undermines religious autonomy.
