A 32-year-old man, Vadlakonda Krishna, was discovered dead near the Musi river canal in the Suryapet district of Telangana on Monday morning. Known as Bunty, Krishna’s death is being treated as a possible murder. His father believes this could be an “honor killing” because of the strong objections his son faced from his wife’s family. This event has brought attention to serious issues of caste-based violence in the area.
Krishna, a resident of Mamillagadda in Suryapet town, had married Kotla Bhargavi six months ago. Bhargavi belongs to the Goud caste, which is considered a Backward Class in Telangana. Krishna’s father reports that Bhargavi’s family strongly opposed the marriage. Because of this opposition, he suspects their disapproval may be connected to his son’s death. The police are currently investigating these claims to understand the events that led to Krishna’s passing. The case is also a source of concern for the community.
This tragic incident has deeply affected the local community, highlighting the difficulties of inter-caste relationships. “This is clearly an honor killing,” Krishna’s father stated, emphasizing the serious nature of his accusations. The police investigation is ongoing, and further information is expected as they explore potential motives and those who might be involved. This case underscores the social challenges that continue to exist within the region.
