Telangana Treasury Officers Arrested for Demanding

Two government officials in Telangana have been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe. A. Maheshwar and Reddavena Pavan Sai, who both work in sub-treasuries, were taken into custody on Thursday. These officials, based in the Karimnagar district, were caught in Ramagundam, located in the Peddapalli district. The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) made the arrests after receiving a complaint.

The two officers are accused of demanding money to speed up a pension approval. Specifically, they allegedly asked for Rs 10,000 from an individual. According to reports, Maheshwar was set to receive the largest portion of the bribe, taking Rs 9,000. Meanwhile, Sai was to receive the remaining Rs 1,000.

After receiving the complaint, the ACB quickly organized a sting operation. They successfully caught the two officials in the act of accepting the bribe money. This quick action demonstrates the bureau’s commitment to fighting corruption. Incidents like these make it clear how public officials sometimes abuse their positions. It also highlights the importance of people reporting illegal actions to the authorities.

An ACB official stated that the bribe was demanded to process the pension. This type of corruption hurts regular people and damages the trust they have in government agencies. These arrests show the ongoing work to make sure public servants are honest and responsible. The investigation is currently ongoing, and additional information may become available as the case progresses.
