A sixteen-year-old girl from the Dalit community was abducted and sexually assaulted in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. The suspect, named Rashid, is accused of forcing the girl into his vehicle at approximately 10 a.m. While the girl was outside taking out the trash, Rashid allegedly drove her away. Fortunately, police were able to quickly identify and arrest Rashid because an identification card was discovered on his car’s dashboard. This terrible crime has caused significant anger and distress within the local community.
Investigators say that Rashid not only committed the sexual assault but also recorded it on his mobile phone. Additionally, it is reported that he used offensive language related to the girl’s caste during the attack. Following the assault, Rashid allegedly threw the young girl out of the car and left her by the roadside. Police are now conducting a thorough investigation, carefully examining the evidence they have gathered from both Rashid’s phone and his car. This case draws attention to the dangers faced by young women in the region, as well as the ongoing problem of violence linked to caste discrimination.
Authorities confirmed that Rashid abducted the girl from right outside her home and committed the assault in his car. The quick arrest of the suspect, mainly because of the identification card, enabled law enforcement to begin the legal process right away. This incident underscores the critical need for enhanced safety measures for young women and for those who belong to marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh. It also highlights the continuing challenges in fighting caste-based violence in the region.
