Large-scale violence breaks out in Barrackpore between police and members of the BJP during a law-violation program and CP office gherao led by West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar.
The police assert that they used water cannons and lathicharging in retaliation for the BJP workers’ stone throwing. The BJP claims that police assaulted and threatened female supporters.
Chanting of “Bharat mata ki jai” and “jai shri ram” was heard during the violence created in Barrackpure, West Bengal.
