Bhopal Tensions: Muslim Groups Protest Alleged Anti-Allah Remarks in Assault Case
Tensions have risen in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, after Muslim groups protested over alleged offensive remarks made about Allah during an assault on a Muslim youth by Hindu organization activists. The incident occurred in a hotel in the Gautam Nagar area, where activists reportedly caught the youth with a Hindu woman and accused him of "love jihad." Videos showed the youth being beaten, partially stripped, and humiliated, with black paint and cow dung smeared on his face.
Protesters gathered outside the Police Commissioner’s office, demanding strict action against those who made religiously offensive comments during the assault. They emphasized their protest focused on the alleged remarks against Allah, not the personal relationship between the individuals involved. Police registered a case based on complaints and viral videos, though the woman stated she had known the youth for five years and did not want action against him.
The assaulted youth had not filed a complaint, but police initiated action after reviewing the videos. Initially, a case was registered against unidentified persons for hurting religious sentiments, with named FIRs later filed against some accused individuals. Protesters blocked roads and warned of larger agitation if strict action was not taken. Heavy police deployment was present to maintain order during the demonstration.
