NBDSA Imposes ₹25,000 Fine on Zee News for Communal Misinformation and Privacy Breach

The News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA) fined Zee News ₹25,000 for forcibly interviewing a distressed mother of a murder accused, violating privacy norms. The channel also faced censure for airing communal misinformation, including a debate linking broken glass to a Muslim conspiracy, and falsely presenting West Bengal footage as attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh. Activist Indrajeet Ghorpade, who filed the complaints, sought stronger penalties.
