WHO Declares Ebola Outbreak in DRC, Uganda a Global Health Emergency

The World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern following an Ebola outbreak caused by the rare Bundibugyo virus strain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The outbreak has resulted in at least 246 suspected cases and over 80 suspected deaths. The Bundibugyo strain has no approved vaccines or treatments. WHO urged global support to contain the crisis and strengthen surveillance efforts.
