Manoj Tiwari Dips in Yamuna, Claims Nearly 30km Stretch Cleaned Before Chhath Puja
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari took a ritual dip in the Yamuna at Sonia Vihar, claiming around 30 km of the 58-km stretch in Delhi had been cleaned under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's government. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Water Minister Parvesh Verma for the efforts and invited people to celebrate Chhath Puja along the river. Tiwari accused the previous AAP government of failing to clean the river and said remaining work would finish in three years. He emphasized monitoring water quality and planned dredging, urging permanent ghats over temporary arrangements for festivals. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj disputed these claims, stating the clean stretch between Palla and Wazirabad was already clean during AAP rule, citing DPCC reports. He blamed increased pollution downstream, especially after the Najafgarh drain, and challenged Tiwari and Verma to drink water at Kalindi Kunj Ghat.
