West Singhbhum Tragedy: Wedding Vehicle Crash Claims Two Lives, Injures Six
A tragic road accident occurred early Monday morning in Udhun village, under the Manoharpur police station in West Singhbhum district. A pickup vehicle carrying wedding guests lost control and plunged nearly 10 feet off the road into a field. The crash resulted in the immediate deaths of two young men, while six others sustained serious injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Rohan Gop, aged 12, from Baranga village, and Dashrath Sardar, aged 25, from Gopipur. The injured include Suraj Mahato (22), Shishupal Modi (26), Rahul Gop (20), Gopi Modi (18), Saurabh Lohar (16), and Suresh Gop (48), all residents of nearby villages.
According to reports, the pickup vehicle (registration JH-06C/7345) had traveled from Baranga to Samij village in Anandpur block to pick up wedding guests. While returning around 3:15 a.m., the driver lost control near Udhun village, causing the vehicle to veer off the road. It is reported that the vehicle was also carrying a loaded sound system at the time of the accident.
Upon hearing the loud crash, local villagers rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. With their help, all injured individuals were immediately transported to the Manoharpur Community Health Centre (CHC). Doctors at the facility pronounced two victims dead on arrival. Due to the critical condition of the remaining six, they were referred to higher medical facilities for advanced treatment after receiving initial first aid.
As soon as the incident was reported, Manoharpur police arrived at the site and have initiated an investigation into the case. Authorities are conducting necessary legal proceedings related to the accident.
