West Bengal Closes 252 Madrasas, Issues Notices to 100 More
West Bengal office of minority affairs and madrasah education ordered closures of 252 unlicensed madrasas and gave notices to about 100 schools for rule breaks after a July 22 review. Chief Khudiram Tudu said field checks gathered papers everywhere while Chief Dilip Ghosh said approved madrasas stay open and warned against illegal openings today in the state under current law.
